Overview

Until now, the Conviction Founders used their personal capital to make initial, small scale investments in early stage opportunities, called ‘incubators’. The best-performing incubator investments get elevated to the core portfolio where Conviction takes the lead role and raises significant rounds of direct funding from the syndicate.

A number of Conviction investors have expressed interest to co-invest alongside the Founders in these early stage opportunities. They are attracted to the higher potential returns of investing in younger companies, with lower valuations and more growth potential.

To this end, Conviction is raising up to £5m for its first Founders Fund to facilitate a greater number of initial investments in early stage companies. The Fund will reserve up to 50% of capital for follow-on investments in the top-performing companies where Conviction will seek to become the Lead Investor.

The Conviction Founders have already seeded the fund with £500k of their personal capital and made the first investment in Hullabalook. The Fund investors will have a unique opportunity to invest on the same terms and entry point as the Founders. Along with the usual Fund pre-emption rights, Conviction will give each Fund investor the ability to personally participate in top-performing opportunities that are elevated to the core portfolio and where Conviction acts as the Lead.
